Microsoft, you still can thrill me!
Panos Kontopoulos - 11/03/10It’s been a long time since Microsoft thrilled me with a new service or product.
But these 2 TED demos really hit me.
The first one is about new Bing maps and in the video1, among other things interesting, you can watch a LIVE VIDEO OVERLAY on a street view map !
Also, spend some time watching the second TED video talking about Pivot, a new experiment from Microsoft Live Labs visualizing data like never before!

Letter to a Technology Evangelist
Panos Kontopoulos - 09/03/10Πρώτη φορά το άκουσα όταν δούλευα στη Microsoft μερικά χρόνια πριν και έχω ακόμη μερικούς φίλους εκεί που η κάρτα τους γράφει Technology Evangelist
.
Νομίζω ότι το άρθρο αυτό συμπυκνώνει πολλά από τα skills και τις γνώσεις που πρέπει να έχεις σε μια δουλειά που μόνο εύκολη δεν είναι.
Διαβάζω από εκεί:
- know the technology you’re promoting, know what customers need, know your competition.
- learn how to communicate in public, using powerful visuals, voice, body language.
- practice your presentation skills, and be prepared to learn new things.
- learn your audience, and give them respect, humility, passion and communication.
- be the mouth, but also the ears, of your company; and use online tools in a smart way to track customers’ opinions, and to build a powerful network of people.
- give the audience a memorable experience, and show them respect. FEEL how they feel. Treat them with high respect. They will love you for this
