Από σήμερα το απόγευμα και για 3 ημέρες στη Νέα Υόρκη γίνεται το TechCrunch DISRUPT ένα event αφιερωμένο στις αλλαγές που συμβαίνουν στα media και στην τεχνολογία, ποιος τις προκαλεί και τι πρέπει να ξέρουμε για να επιβιώσουμε σε αυτές.

Όλο το event θα μεταδοθεί με live video streaming από το livestream και αν κρίνω από τις ανακοινώσεις τους σκοπεύουν να κάνουν μια ξεχωριστή κάλυψη.

But at Disrupt, ‘live streaming’ doesn’t mean we’re just pointing a camera at the stage. Oh no. For a start, there will be three cameras broadcasting all the action from the main stage. But also, during the gaps between sessions, and over the lunch and coffee breaks, our own Evelyn Rusli will be hosting a series of exclusive backstage interviews with judges, speakers, panelists and contest participants. We’ll also be covering all the action from start-up alley and the conference hallways, plus highlights of the after-parties and a few extra surprises that are too awesome to spoil here in advance. Joining Evelyn, expect to see a star-studded line-up of TC writers and editors on screen throughout the day(s).

In fact we’re expecting the live stream to be so great that even those lucky enough to be at the conference will still want to watch the coverage back when they get home.

Woop.gr videos in iPhone, iPad

Ολοκληρώσαμε την προηγούμενη εβδομάδα και βγάλαμε στον αέρα το νέο αθλητικό portal του ΣΚΑΙ, με το – αρκετά ανατρεπτικό – όνομα WOOP.

Αυτό που ήθελα να σημειώσω εδώ είναι ότι το www.woop.gr είναι η πρώτη δουλειά μας που σχετίζεται με video (και ίσως και η πρώτη στην Ελλάδα) που μπορεί να προβάλλει τα video κανονικά και σε iPhone αλλά και σε iPad με τη χρήση HTML5.

Πρόκειται για τεχνικές που στο εξωτερικό πλέον θεωρούνται δεδομένες, από τη στιγμή που η Apple δεν υποστηρίζει Flash στις συσκευές αυτές. Ουσιαστικά κάθε video γίνεται encode σε παραπάνω από ένα format και οι εφαρμογές κατανοώντας τον browser της συσκευής, επιλέγουν ποιο format θα προβάλλουν και με ποιο τρόπο.
